DISC 11-18-08 11:41pm CST
For those unfamiliar with the DISC profile, this sums it up:

The trip to the mall.

An "I" sees a group of people she/he knows and goes over, gets in the middle of the group and has everyone laughing.

An "S" sees a group of people she/he knows and talks to a few one on one.

A "C" sees a group of people she/he knows and pretends not to see them and continues shopping.

A "D" doesn't go to the mall, she/he sends someone else.

Now, supposedly it helps one to know which "type" one is, and which "type" one's co-workers are, so we can all better understand each other and work together.

I'm sorry to say it, but I tremble when I find out someone is an "S". I just don't know how to deal with S's. It's very complicated and requires choosing one's words carefully, and even if said words are chosen carefully, they are usually mis-understood and turned into something negative.

***Sigh***

So, which type then, do you think I am?
textiletYou're definitely not an I. Maybe a C with aspirations of being an S?

I won't tell you what I am so you'll still talk to me! ;)
bestillI'm an S...don't be afraid of me. I prefer to get to know individuals and learn about them. How is that threatening? Is my asking threatening?
mtnestI think I am an S, but sometimes a C or even occasionally a D.
lovinstlouis02I go to the mall on a mission and want to get out of there, so I'm probably a C because I'm in a hurry. Yeah, S is odd.
aletaI've not heard of this profile. I'd say you are a D or C. I tend to be a D, but if I find myself among people, I try to speak to all of them. (I?) I can't say as I get everyone to laughing, though; I mainly want to know what's happening in their life. Interesting.
holly_annhaha, I'm a C or D defintely, which must mean you are too. I just did the C thing Monday...

Can you tell us a little more about "S"?
sarI think you are a D. Am I right? If not a D a C.
My husband is an "I" so is my 8 year old!
I can be an "S, C, or D" depending on what kind of mood I am in.
quincysmomIt depends on what mood I am in. I think I am a C when I am in a hurry and don't want to be distracted. Otherwise, I wave, smile or just say hi. There isn't a letter for that one. hahah

split_rockWhoa! She's not a baby anymore, is she?
w3jlSo cute!!
aleta:) Hope you get to feeling better.
ilovepondsBeen missing you! Hope things slow down some for you soon.
holly_annI miss my baby. I hope she likes me again tomorrow.
lovinstlouis02No kidding. Where did this whole YEAR go???
dshShe has such a sweet smile!
quincysmomThat is SO sweet!!!!!! I can't believe how she has grown!
mockinbirdHello, my name is Jo Ann and I am new to Pleo and the Ladies Book Club. I noticed your mini-bio there and was pleased to see someone else on my side of 50.:-) (I think we are few and far between.) Coincidentaly we also seem to be neighbors. I'm from Aurora. I quite appreciate the joy and pride of a granddaughter. Our one and only just turned 3. Your little one is a doll!! Are you planning on reading the new Nov/Dec book club selection? It looks interesting. I love books like this. May I add you to my friends list?
mockinbirdIt IS a small world. We're reading Isaac's Storm. It's about the 1900 Galvaston Hurricane. I like reading non-fiction and have read a couple of others by this author and have enjoyed them.

Halloween visit 11-01-08 10:21am CST
The little flower came to visit Grammie at work. And, in front of my coworkers she finally spoke my name - "Gi" :)

anneHow sweet! I love to hear my grandkids call me whatever they call me.
jerzgirlSweet!
split_rock:)
textiletAww! Happy times for Gi!
lovnprayersShe is so cute!
dshYay, Gi!!
mtnestCute costume!
Fifth disease is also called human parvovirus. It's a childhood virus with a rash and sometimes fever. The cheeks get very red so it is also called "slapped cheek" virus. It got named Fifth because there are 4 other childhood illnesses that cause a rash.
quincysmomThat is just precious! I can't believe how your little "flower" has bloomed!
w3jlThat is so cute. She is growing so fast!
sarSo cute!
DessertDivaShe's so sweet!
curlieCute!
ilovepondsI'll have to check this out at home...can't get photobucket pics at work! One time, in church, Paige was fussing and crying when Kacey told her to not cry and say a word. She yelled, "Gig-ee!" So that was what she wanted. I had to have her at that point. :-)
anitajThat little flower certainly does brighten up your work's kitchen and copying areas.
holly_annBut "Ha" was first :) Even though she does like you better. :b
chickadeeThe top photo above would be a perfect candidate for one of those standup cutouts.
holly_annWe could probably make one of those here at work actually...
debsherbsThank you for your kind words you will have to email me and that way I'll have your email address. I will keep the situation in my prayers. This granddaughter grew up and became a preachers wife!!!
dshThank you!
lovnprayersLinda please let the people in Elgin know. I will keep you updated. She probably won't make it through the night.
lovnprayersI talked to Mandy and she and Tim were going up for the furneral. I didn't get any info on where it was.

Fun day at the zoo 10-18-08 08:07pm CST
This was a perfect day to go to the zoo. It was sunny, and around 60 degrees. The animals were more lively since the weather was cooler, and we were definately more lively.

There were lots of cute costumes, but no flowers as pretty as our little flower, Leela. :)

Photobucket
alp1926What a cute costume. She had to be the most beautiful flower there.
mtnestVery cute. Addi is going to be Tinker Bell.
w3jlCute costume, but cuter Leela!
quincysmomAWWWWWWWW! Precious! So did you dress up too? ;)
curlieSo cute!
split_rockCute costume -- did you make it?
jerzgirlWhat a cutie!
ilovepondsWow, she is really getting to be a "big girl." Her costume is adorable, too.
w3jlThanks for the post and yes I totally agree with you. It's really scary.
seainmeShe looks so adorable! I haven't been to the zoo in such a long time. I love to go. Maybe we need to plan a family outing there soon! :)
kaceyatthebatThank you!
aaron_nicYes, I did read his comments. I am planning to vote, and I'm planning to vote on moral issues :)
singforjoyWhat an adorable picture! Just wanted to let you know that I received the clothes yesterday. Everything is in great condition, and even cuter in person! Thanks again.
chickadeeHow is Don doing? By the way, I got to be on the phone with Tristan as she opened her box and she said the same as singforjoy! It was so muchfun listening to her squeals of delight!
ilovepondsYou are so welcome!
mtnestThanks, that is very sweet of you, but she wears a 5 1/2 now and has a very narrow foot.
boysrusLeela makes one cute little flower!
textiletI think you're right about the freshman 15! lol

He lost weight after band last year and is keeping it off. He walks a lot and has marching band. Next semester he's taking weighlifting 2X a week. I think he'll have to up his protein intake then. The food is really good at UGA! I wish I could eat there instead of cooking.

Things 10-16-08 11:09pm CST
Well, I have to admit that the volume level has gone down considerably with one tiny little 4 lb dog gone. Hmmmm. I hear that Ella has it pretty good in her new home. She travels around in a purse and gets LOTS of attention.

Tomorrow I will be mailing the clothes from the auction.

Saturday we're going to "Boo at the Zoo". Leela gets to wear her costume. It should be fun, and the weather should be PERFECT - not too hot, not too cold.

Last Saturday it was 80. We went to the pumpkin farm and it was way too hot. This week has been in the 50s and 60s - MUCH better!!

And, DRUM ROLL..... Leela is going to Bible Class now. It is SO CUTE. She has been real good about it as far as we can tell. She looked so cute Wed night walking down the hallway after class carrying her papers. She gets all happy and smiley when I sing "Day one, day one, God made light when there was none...". She says "Bible" now, in her Leela way of saying it. She tends to say the first part of words, but usually doesn't finish them.

I've stayed up way too late baking with the apples someone at work gave me. Upside Down Apple Cake and Apple Crisp. Neither fit well into the WW flex plan...

Have a good weekend everyone.
aletaGood for Leela!
jaydonI teach her age bible class and two of my granddaughters are in it - they are way too cute! We sing that song Day One... and my God is so Big and others. I love it when they get and thier little eyes light up and they do all of the hand motions.
mmmm.... apple pie. I am trying way to hard to stay on the WW plan and I am bumming - why did I eat so much this summer - I enjoy Fall food so much more oh the regrets!
ilovepondsBible class and little ones...nothing sweeter!
alp1926I always wonted to check out Boo-at-the-Zoo with our kids, but we never went. Or at least, I never did. One or two of the girls might have.

So happy to hear about Leela being in Bible Class.
kaceyatthebatApple anything sounds so good to me right now.
anitajApple desserts??? If you want to freeze a piece for me so you can stay on your WW flex plan, I would be willing to sacrifice my calories for yours. :)
anneLittle ones coming from Bible class give me a thrill, too.
chickadeeawwwww :)
holly_annHave fun at the zoo! I hope some of the apple treats are left on Sunday when we get back :) I decided to suspend WW for the weekend :)
w3jlI love it when the kids get to start to classes. They are so proud of themselves and eager to learn. Good for Leela.
jerzgirlWhat a cutie!
